Castilla y León will bring its wide range of cultural tourism and congresses to FITUR
The provincial patronages will combine the traditional gastronomic, heritage and nature resources with star proposals.
Castilla y León will land this year at the 28th International Tourism Fair, Fitur 2008, with a wide range of rural, cultural, heritage, nature and congress tourism, without forgetting gastronomic and oenological tourism. Along with the traditional resources, this year the nine provinces are betting on some star content to attract the professional and general public to attend the Madrid event, from January 30 to February 3.
Avila. In this new edition, in which Castilla y León Day will be celebrated on February 1, the Ávila City Council will continue to promote two lines of action that have spun tourism promotion in recent years. In the first place, and before the next opening of the Municipal Exhibition and Congress Center, congress tourism will stand out. The second action will focus on the strategic lines that are being carried out to increase overnight stays in the city and promote quality tourism. For its part, the Diputación will place special emphasis on the offer of rural tourism and on projects such as the Museum of the Transition and Adolfo Suárez in Cebreros.
Burgos. For its part, the Burgos Tourist Board attends with the city’s candidacy for the 2016 European Capital of Culture, the Atapuerca sites and the future Museum of Human Evolution as major claims.
Palencia will promote the Romanesque, the Camino de Santiago, the Canal de Castilla, the churches and museums of Tierra de Campos and the landscape of the Palencia Mountain, as well as its Wine Route or Holy Week in the capital, among other issues.
Also, Tierra de Campos will share space with nine other places in the Spanish geography thanks to the ‘Rural Tourism. Inland region ‘.
Salamanca. Also playing a leading role in this space will be the Salamanca territories through which the river Tormes crosses, which will present an ecological project that integrates tourism into society and the local economy.
Segovia. The Segovian Provincial Tourist Board will attend the Madrid event, in addition to the great monumental and gastronomic attractions of the province with a new brochure that, under the title Segovia, a movie location, offers aid to audiovisual production companies for the realization of filming in the province.
Soria. The Romanesque Soria and the natural spaces will star, for their part, the Soria offer, a province that will also advance since in 2009 it will host Las Adades del Hombre.
Valladolid. With regard to Valladolid, the City Council will influence the commemorative acts of the Centennial of the Town Hall, while the Provincial Council will bet on promoting initiatives such as the Villa del Libro de Urueña or the E-Lea Center.
Zamora. Finally, Zamora will disseminate its Tourism Plan and the ‘Zamora a la carte ‘initiative, a web page that allows reservations to be made at hotel establishments in the province.
